Many in evangelicalism are opting for “hell house evangelism” this Halloween to scare the hell “into” unbelievers.
One website out there is even advertising a “hell house outreach kit”. They say that you can “Shake your city with the most "in-your-face, high-flyin', no denyin', death-defyin', Satan-be-cryin', keep-ya-from-fryin', theatrical stylin', no holds barred, cutting-edge" evangelism tool of the new millennium!”
Hell house evangelism videos are so disturbing that I will not post them.
If you consider the fact that our culture is getting dangerously unshockable already, than “hell houses” have to get pretty graphic with sins consequences with people who already have plenty of sinfully graphic images in their minds (thank you Hollywood). This is totally unnecessary.
What people really need to see are lives that have been truly changed by the Spirit of God and what they need to hear is the simple gospel of Jesus Christ. Hell house evangelism is just a cheap gimmick and a sad reality of many who have abandoned the sufficiency of Scripture.
